Until Bastide closed its doors, some argued that Ludovic Lefebvre served the best contemporary French cuisine in the U.S. there. He thought of opening his own restaurant, but dealing with investors and a 24-hour-a-day job didn't sound that appealing. Ludo and his wife, Krissy, found the best of both worlds when they opened LudoBites, a pop-up restaurant that operates in a succession of temporary locations around the city. Each iteration features a unique menu that mixes new creations, like foie gras dynamite with lychee and tuna, and "crazy good" dishes from the Bastide days, like crème fra√Æche panna cotta with caviar caramel. The concept's been incredibly popular with the local food cognoscenti - so much so that, when Version 6.0 was announced, so many people tried to book tables that the OpenTable servers crashed.
