The trendy enclave of Santa Monica is hardly the place one would think of looking for straightforward, farm-to-table cooking. Andrew Kirschner, who grew up in the area, has changed that perception. Kirschner’s menu is filled with tasty-sounding creations like braised lamb belly with apple chutney; wood-roasted quail with Bing cherries, spring onion and mint; and Steelhead trout with fava bean risotto, fava tendrils and grilled lemon. While one reviewer calls it “quite simply, one of the best openings to hit Santa Monica in a while,” it is also described as “crowded, loud and noisy”; ask to sit in the back room if you want a quieter dining experience. |
