Tyson Cole’s first restaurant, Uchi, became so popular that he opened Uchiko, which despite a name that indicates that it is Uchi’s little brother, is actually a larger restaurant than its inspiration. The dishes on Cole’s daily specials menu will make you want to book a flight to Austin: Kanpachi crudo dressed with white chocolate and rapini, littleneck clams with fava beans, fiddleheads and peas, and what Cole calls Jar Jar Duck, an applewood-smoked Countryside Farms duck served with candied citrus and endive. Reviewers say it “combines spectacular cooking at an affordable price point” served by “an incredibly knowledgeable waitstaff.” There is also praise for the desserts; one reviewer calls the fried milk “the best dessert I ever ate.” |
