When Thai food first hit these shores, and dishes like pad Thai seemed exotic, it made sense to create a fine dining experience that revolved around the cuisine. But with Thai restaurants now pervasive, and diners finding out that they can get the same, or better, versions of dishes for less, Arun has lost much of its cachet. What's left is a debate in which one side says, "Fantastic since the day it opened," countered by, "There are better choices at one-fifth the cost." One thing everyone will agree on is that Arun's is still the best place to eat a bowl of Mossaman curry while wearing a sport coat.
