With 100% of reviewer comments mentioning either the "spectacular views," the "casual island atmosphere" or the "exquisite setting right on the water," we suspect that the non-culinary aspects of this iconic Maui seafood house, dating from 1973, play a big role in its high rating. Yet surprisingly, given the touristy location, the cooking comes in for its share of praise, including "the best and freshest fish on the island," "the epitome of island cuisine" and "preparations that are old school but surprisingly well-done" (cases in point: the papaya and watercress bisque, uku with lemongrass and the Macadamia Nut-crusted mahi mahi with a tropical fruit salad). The experience also includes "fast and efficient service" when compared to the area's usual standard. |
