A fair number of tourists are willing to make the 20-minute trek from the French Quarter for the "solid food" and "pleasant, old school ambience" at this eatery tucked away in a quiet uptown neighborhood. Creole classics dominate the handwritten menu, like trout topped with crab meunière and grilled baby drumfish topped with salmon gravlax, while the meat dishes include the likes of chicken Clemenceau, lamb chops Webster or panéed veal smothered with lump crab meat and Béarnaise sauce. There's a decent wine list, and the butterscotch, dulce de leche and sea salt budino can give any dessert in NOLA a run for its money. With the tuxedo-clad waiters being some of the friendliest and most helpful in the city, it's not surprising to hear reviewers describe this veteran as "Galatoire's light."
