Asturias-born Lolo Manso is one of the true characters of the New York restaurant scene. After his great success at La Nacional, he opened up this narrow restaurant with counter-only seating, serving what is easily the best paella in the city. There are a number of different tapas to start, but the highlight of your dinner will be one of his eight different paellas or fideuas; the last thing the waiter does when bringing the dish to the table is to scrape the caramelized rice, known as the socarrat, off the bottom of the pan, ensuring that "your last few bites will be the best of the meal." |
