Cleveland has Michael Symon to thank for putting it on the culinary map. Before Symon, who would ever think of Cleveland as a place where you could get a good meal? But Symon changed that, and his restaurant anchors what has become the 4th Street pedestrian mall in the city’s downtown. As for the food, it mixes New American and a modernized version of Greek cooking, with an assortment of cuisines reflecting Cleveland’s various ethnic communities thrown into the mix. As one reviewer puts it, “Where else could your dinner consist of a selection of American hams, followed by some beef cheek pierogi, before finishing with a platter of Greek-style lamb kabobs?” |
