In a quote on the Haute Dish website a local restaurant reviewer describes Haute Dish as the Twin Cities’ “first local restaurant for the millennial generation, and it’s as important as any we’ve got.” The name is a play on words, as Landon Schoenefeld likes taking traditional dishes – like mac ’n’ cheese made with taleggio, king crab, celery and truffle oil or “meat loaf in a can” served with root vegetables, potato puree, mushroom gravy and tomato marmalade – and prepare them using the skills a chef would bring to more formal cuisines. Reviewers describe the result as “a fun play on classic Midwestern food” and a “very smart menu that does a fabulous job of turning traditional Minnesota cuisine into hipster food.” On Sunday evenings Schoenenfeld caters to non-meat lovers by offering a vegetarian tasting menu. |
