The number of Los Angelenos in the film and TV industries who go through long periods of downtime between jobs makes the city's restaurants unusually lively at lunchtime. This Mediterranean affair is among the liveliest, and some of the best-looking people in the city come here to stuff themselves with interesting salads, sandwiches and pizzas, along with small plates like grilled Monterey Bay squid with lentils, roasted peppers and salsa verde or a Niman Ranch lamb burger with harissa aioli. In the evening the fare's a bit more substantial - think Dungeness crab risotto with arugula, mascarpone and parmesan. "Sexy ambience and wonderful food to go with it" does a good job of summing up the experience.
