When we say it is often hard to tell the difference between restaurants that serve Szechuan food, we are not trying to be snide. The truth is that, given the low price points at these spots, there is little room for differentiation. Then there is the rare instance that is different, where comment after comment singles out a certain place. That’s the case with this restaurant, which a number of years ago moved its collection of Szechuan peppers and oils from Flushing’s Chinatown to College Point. Still, despite the remote location, the place always seems filled with hipsters and other cheap-eats fanatics – proof that people are happy to travel to the farthest reaches of New York City to eat exemplary versions of dishes like cumin lamb and braised sliced fish in a spicy soup. |
