It goes to show you the value of winning Top Chef, something Harold Dieterle did back in 2006. He opened Perilla, and things went so well there that in 2010, Dieterle decided to venture into Thai cuisine. He teamed up with Alicia Nosenzo and, just a few blocks up Sixth Avenue, opened Kin Shop. Now reviewers rave about dishes like the spicy duck larb salad and stir-fry Dungeness crab noodle with green onion, bean sprouts, fish sauce and fried garlic. They also mention the “good spicy rice dishes” and the house take on kimchi, which Dieterle makes with watercress. They also serve the Kin & Tonic, which one person describes as “the greatest gin and tonic of all time.” |
