Since it opened in 1972, this has been one of Kansas City's more formal dining experiences. Purchased in 2006 by its chef, John McClure, it now offers a menu that's a mix of New American fare like grilled La Belle Farms foie gras with Creole beignet and a strawberry and pistachio salad, and classic house dishes like filet mignon with Alaskan King crab meat asparagus and béarnaise sauce. The "simple, well-prepared food" and "award-winning wine list" add up to "an old-school dining experience" at a "quaint restaurant that is worth the wait."
