Sometimes the second time is the charm. Back in 2009, April Bloomfield and Ken Freidman hoped to cash in on the popularity of their smashingly successful gastropub, The Spotted Pig, by opening a seafood restaurant called The John Dory. Despite the fact that the hype that surrounded its opening was massive, diners did not take to the place, which forced them to shut the doors. This, the second incarnation of that restaurant, is far less ambitious – more of a place to enjoy a dozen oysters on the half shell while throwing back a few cocktails or beers. If you happen to be in the mood for cooked food, not to worry, as you could do a lot worse than small plates like chorizo-stuffed squid with smoked tomato and the house version of a lobster roll served with shoestring potatoes. |
