Andrew Carmellini has the Midas touch. After he blazed a trail for himself preparing some of the city’s best French cuisine at Café Boulud, he switched to Italian and made A Voce one of the city’s most popular restaurants. As if that wasn’t enough, he then joined forces with Robert De Niro at the Greenwich Hotel, and Locanda Verde became one of the toughest reservations in the city to come by. With those conquests behind him, he opened The Dutch, which is best described as serving a style of casual American cuisine that straddles the definitions of bistro and gastropub. The “fun crowd” and the “vibrant bar scene” mean you have to plan far in advance if you want to book a table. |
