After creating Chicago's number-one hipster dining experience at Lula Café, Jason Hammel and Amalea Tshilds decided to it was time to take the next step. They chose a location in the city's historic Pilsen district and installed Jason Vincent as the chef. With a menu focused on regionally sourced ingredients for dishes like Three Sisters white corn polenta and chicken from Slagal Farms, they created an overnight sensation that attracts comments like this: "My high recommendation is based on the fact that every once in a great while you find a restaurant that touches your soul."
