In 1938 Sally, the nephew of pizza master Frank Pepe (see above), decided he was going to go out on his own. He and his successors have been baking pies at this location ever since, still using the coal-fired oven they cooked in on their very first day. As to the ongoing debate as to who serves the best pizza, some swear by Pepe's ("a better crust"), others by Sally's ("better sauce"), and some just say, "Flip a coin - they're both great." There's only one Wooster Street location, so be prepared for "a hellacious wait."
