For a city with such a large Japanese community, LA doesn’t have many ramen places that the locals brag about. But fortunately there is Daikokuya which operates four locations in the metropolitan area and one in Costa Mesa, with its “fantastic”; “Kyushu-style pork ramen” that is “uber tender” and which you get to enjoy in a room that is decorated to reflect Tokyo in the 40's. Besides soup there are a handful of other items on offer ranging from gyoza to a spicy tuna roll, but the ramen is the thing that keeps the lines stretching out of the door.
