Not as well known as Pat's or Geno's, this is the "cheese steak of choice" for many of our reviewers when they find themselves in South Philly. The menu, a bit more diverse than other famous joints', includes a roast pork sandwich with sharp provolone and Italian greens that someone described as "the bomb," along with the vegetarian-friendly egg, pepper and potato hoagie. The lines can be monumental, especially when the Phillies are in town, and veterans advise that the best way to beat the lines is to "call ahead and place your order."
