Legend has it that in 1918, Philippe Mathieu accidentally dropped a French roll into a gravy pan and the French Dip sandwich was born. Beef is the most famous of the dips, although they also serve pork, lamb, ham or turkey, which you can top with Swiss, Monterey Jack, blue or American cheese before slathering your sandwich with homemade mustard. There are two soups that change daily, and they also serve breakfast, but let's face it, you're there for a dip.
