Mary McKenzie opened this iconic restaurant in 1945. Sixty-five years later, the menu is still larded with fare like pot likker and fried chicken, served with an astonishing 37 side dishes, including the rarely seen (outside of these parts) Hoppin' John and Brunswick stew. Although it's "filled with more tourists than locals," it has maintained its status as a local institution and is "one of the few places still serving good old-fashioned Southern food."
