Before there was Jeni’s there was Graeter’s. Started in 1870 by the son of Bavarian immigrants, Louis Graeter’s French pot style of ice cream was such a hit that the family now operates 39 locations in the Ohio Valley region. There are twenty different flavors on offer along with limited edition flavors that change based on the season. Though it’s been bypassed by places where the ice cream is made with an eye towards artisanality, reviewers say; “you would be hard pressed to find a better commercially made ice cream than Graeter’s.”
